Why Does My Cleansing Oil Feel Too Thin or Too Thick? Understanding Oil Textures

Not all oils are created equal. If you’ve ever felt like your Glowtox Cleansing Oil is too thin or too thick, you’re not alone. Here’s what you need to know about cleansing oil textures and why yours might behave differently depending on how you use it and your skin’s needs.

Why Texture Matters: The viscosity (thickness) of a cleansing oil affects how it spreads, how well it breaks down makeup and SPF, and how it emulsifies with water. A thinner oil may feel more lightweight and easier to rinse, while a thicker oil can offer more cushion for dry or sensitive skin.

Environmental Factors: Your environment plays a role — oils can feel thinner in warmer climates and thicker in colder ones.

How to Use for Best Results:

  • Dispense 2-7 pumps into dry hands.

  • Apply to dry face and massage gently for 30–60 seconds.

  • Wet hands with warm water and continue massaging to emulsify.

  • Rinse thoroughly.

If your oil feels too thin and squirts from your hands, try dispensing it into cupped hands and applying it in smaller sections. If it feels too thick, warm it slightly between your fingers before applying.

Pro tip: Be sure to shake your product before use! This helps to mix the different ingredients, causing a more uniform experience for each use.
